Secretary's Report

Attendance:
119 Alumni Meeting Attendees (attendance in our meeting is open to alumni, faculty, and current students) logged into the Online Campus ALEX meeting (ALUMNI) between June and the end of October 1997. Eighty nine (89) meeting attendees logged into the meeting during the month of October.

Online Chapter Elections
Elections were held in October and our new slate of officers are:

President Ron Emberg
V. President Joe O'Hara
Secretary Carol Din
Treasurer Laurie Welsh

Letters have been sent to the 1996-7 Committee and Class Chairs, to determine their willingness to continue to serve in their current positions. The officers anticipate that some new appointments will be needed. Those positions will be filled during the month of December.

Activities sponsored during 1996-7 Online Campus Graduation Weekend:
Pre-Graduation Mixer

Attendance: 38 Adults ($290.00)
Based on the initial response 20 people were expected which would have added another $169.00
Costs: 649.88

The event lost money ($359.88) - Balance paid by Network

Pre-Graduation Dinner Cruise

Attendance:239 Total (Students, Faculty, Staff, & Guests)
Costs: Dinner/Cruise $14,050
The event broke even

Post-Graduation General Membership Meeting

Attendance: 4
No cost to the Network

The Pre-Graduation Mixer and Post-Graduation General Membership Meeting were 1st time events. Our focus was for both current Alumni in the San Francisco area and to introduce 1997 Graduation Candidates to the Alumni Network. Unfortunately, there was some confusion as to target market and limited communication with the 'official' Graduation Committee hindered communication to the candidate and resulted in time-conflict issues. These are currently being addressed.

Goals for 1997-98:
Special regularly scheduled (probably quarterly) Topic Meetings possibly including guest speakers.
Developing a Chapter Website
Develop regional face-to-face meeting (promotes networking).
Become more involved in graduation weekend planning and activities
Re-institute token gifts (i.e., business card holders) to graduates.
